Isn’t It Time To Take A Break?

If you’re like me, you’re overdue for a break. It’s been 7-8 months since I’ve had real down time and the incoming is like drinking from of a firehose. It doesn’t help that politics have us all in knots, or that there are cyber crisis’s creating chaos. There is literally no peace anywhere right now.

More the reason, to create your own break, peace, and sanctuary, even if you’re not going anywhere. I’m taking a little time off, in a place that always restores my soul. Here what I plan on doing.

TURN OFF THE INCOMING INFO

I was shocked to realize that I get 11+ political messages several times a day. I’ve been disturbed enough that I was reading them all. No wonder I’m tense. I am turning them off, deleting them, ignoring them. The media is relentless, ramping up the drama, not to be helpful, but to create urgency, keeping us plugged in and fearful, all connected to ratings and revenue. The political campaigns are doing the same. We’re responding like sheep. Be selective, turn off and disconnect.

BREAK UP YOUR ROUTINE – GET OUTSIDE

It’s the monotony of your schedule that can wear you out as much as pushing yourself. Break it up – get out of your usual flight path and do things differently. A different drive, a different walk, different activities. Notice… be outside and let the infinite variety of the sky, the sounds and activity of the birds, squirrels, chipmunks and cicadas, and the full summer glory of blooming and growing change your thought patterns. Find the awe and revele in it. It’s what restores your mind and body – it’s the ultimate reset.

MEDITATE – GET QUIET

It’s a good time to meditate, reclaim your practice or start it. The internal calm it generates is worth the time you devote. I used to mediate an hour or more and loved the information in pictures, words or whole downloads that would inform and focus my attention,  It continually reinforces the spiritual aspects of life,. Even shorter meditations will redirect my thoughts to something more nourishing and productive. It leaves you relaxed, calm and restored. Try it.

Does this speak to you. Reach out if you’d like to explore any of this.
