Noticing The Good Around You!

Noticing the good around you is the perfect antidote to take the focus off the negative.  If you are feeling despair about the national legislation that reduces health care and services to those in need, strips protections for the environment, gives the rich and corporations more benefits and our POTUS more  power, it becomes necessary to protect yourself and your mindset.

Seeing what is good Is a perspective you can intentionally develop.  A lovely evening on a friend’s farm, noticing the beauty of the land, the gorgeous, sweet horses, wonderfully kind friends, with great food and Lee’s fabulous pie was a reminder of why this is important!

Here’s how you can cultivate this life affirming perspective.

SURROUND YOURSELF WITH LOVING FRIENDS

Now more than ever, keep your friends and those you love close. Plan dinners, cook together, see movies or events, go on walks and express your appreciation. When you voice why someone is important, you make the simplest occasions special and generate more kindness to be shared. You are amplifying what is good.

BE IN NATURE

Surrounding yourself with the beauty of nature is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself. Where I live. I revel in it every day on my walks and a short drive out of town brings even more. My gratitude is constant. You may have it around you too or have to look further to find a place that exudes the calm, reassurance and beauty of nature. Notice what speaks to you, take pictures, make it a priority; it will restore your soul.

EMBRACE AND ARTICULATE THE GOOD

Find and give voice to what you find soothing, nourishing, supportive, good, healthy, educational and worthwhile. A friend’s group message board posts articles. Attend art and music events that highlight the inspiring creativity of people around you. Make phone calls – they’re more personal than texts. Cook and share food to bring your friends together.   Say what speaks to you. Expressing positivity spreads goodness, reducing the impact and control of negativity.  Seek out and share what feeds and keeps you healthy.
