Finally, I’m getting inspired with plans to move forward! It seems I’ve been in a pandemic inspired funk for over a year. While there have been very real barriers to getting things done, I also haven’t been able to think outside of the box. Maybe you can relate?
I have my own clinical business, I consult and train, and run a non-profit with my husband that highlights international arts. It seems all I’ve had is the energy to keep up – like a zombie working on Zoom with clients, consulting and training. There’s been nothing new, inspired or creative coming from me and our non-profit has been dead in the water with no concerts or events. Now, I’m finally breaking through.
Here’s what I had to do to get myself moving. As I like to do, I used the ancient wisdom traditions as a template for change. See if you find this helpful.
BUILD INTERNAL PRESSURE
There first has to be an idea before anything new can happen. But even before that, there has a to be a compelling reason for the new idea. You have to build up a head of steam with some internal pressure. Find the voice inside that says “It’s time, You need to do this, You know you want to do this, You’ve got to do this Now”.
There are several laws at work here. The first is the Law of Mentalism that says that everything originates from thought – you have to develop a clear idea of what you want. But to develop that clarity, you have to have a reason, some perspective that says, yes, do it now. This comes from the Law of Polarity which says – “Look at yourself – if you don’t like what is happening, imagine what would be better” – allow yourself to dream of the opposite. Then the Law of Rhythm tells you everything has its right time in the cycle of life, is it time? Then Go Ahead, make something better happen. All three of these laws reached a crescendo for me – I got the message. I needed to do something Now!
CONNECT TO YOUR PURPOSE – OPEN YOURSELF TO OPPORTUNITY
Once you feel the strong urge to do something, getting clear on what that is may mean mentally switching gears. Often when we are stuck, this can take a minute. It means being open, allowing yourself to dream, moving yourself out of the “yes, but” negating internal dialog that keeps you in one place. Reconnect to your sense of purpose to find a bigger perspective that is full of opportunity. Remind yourself why you’re here and what you want to do in life. Sit in that place of allowing and possibility and see what floats in.
This process uses the all-important Law of Correspondence to remind yourself that your life is divinely given with purpose – as above, so below. The more attention you put on this, the more you can find motivation to move forward. Then you can return to the Law of Mentalism to find an idea that matches your purpose. For me, it was the impetus to get my workshops going again and to make plans for events for our nonprofit. I can’t let these dreams of what we want to put out in the world die for lack of attention.
If you want to do something, it doesn’t happen in a vacuum. You will need input and support. Other people will be involved, you may need fresh ideas, feedback and collaboration. Figure out who will give you the best for that to happen, seeking only those who are an ideal match for what you want. Don’t settle for less – be courageous with your ideas and float them to those who can help.
What you are doing here is creating an energetic match for what you want to come into being. This is the Law of Vibration in action – also known by it’s subset, the Law of Attraction. Notice how all the energy you put into the first two steps prepared you for this one to really work. It doesn’t happen without preparation. Once you are prepared, you can easily bring in the support you need for whatever you want to do. I am working with a number of great people right now to make a workshop, a concert, an art grant and holiday show happen over the next four months. Everyone is getting excited – especially me.
PUT IDEAS INTO ACTION
The final step if to create the action steps. This is where the rubber meets the road. You can have all the great ideas in the world, and lots of people agreeing with you, but if you don’t plan it out, it literally won’t happen. You have to take your vision and map it out like a project manager to figure out what comes first, second and so on. Sometimes it helps to stand in its completion and walk backwards through everything that has to be done starting now. Get your calendar out and start planning.
The Law of Gender says it takes both feminine and masculine energy to create something. In situations like I’m describing, the initial creative and dreaming stages of an idea are the feminine and the final action planning stages are the masculine. Nothing happens without both. If you are good at one and lacking at the other, get help and support to bring it all together. I am grateful to be able to do both, but I am very aware that without the support and work of my husband, board, and community agencies, none of these things would happen. It takes sharing the full vision to get everyone on board.
It’s taken over a year for me to get inspired with a vision to move forward again. It’s been a process to get here starting with building up the internal pressure to say do it now, reconnecting to my sense of purpose to be open to opportunity, seeking input from others and making a plan. Once I had the energy back to embark on this process, it the started flowing quickly. That is how the laws of the universe work. They can work for you too. Stay tuned for more info on these events.
