With the news creating high levels of distress, give yourself a break, pause and notice your moments of joy. Despite knowing better, I’m following the chaotic headlines, my stomach in knots. That’s when I realized I can just as easily follow my own joy.

The joy in my life has been coming in avalanches with so much wonder it’s like drinking from a firehose, yet I let the news dominate my mind. Am I alone here? I of all people know better – I teach this stuff. Where you put your attention is what you will feel/think and attract.
So please, notice what brings you joy and see what happens! See if this helps.
YOUR JOY IS PERSONAL – LOOK FOR IT – CHERISH IT
Give yourself permission to focus on finding your joy, often hidden in small personal moments. This came to me during my morning walk with Lee and my dog Bodhi. The golden slant of the sun through the trees, the dew on the grass, my happy bounding dog – it was all peaceful and beautiful. I realized I was filled with joy as I looked around, cherishing the moment. It was deeply personal, soothing and precious. Find what appeals to you.
HONOR THE LIFT IT GIVES YOU
As I looked around, I realized my whole body had relaxed, my breath was deep and even. I smiled at Lee – I was happy. We’ve been so busy, so stressed, I realized I hadn’t taken time to pause, acknowledge and treasure these moments of grace. They can be as many as I’m willing to notice, and if I linger with a bit of reflection, they will change me from the inside out.
NOTICE YOUR GRATITUDE
There is a sequence to what happens internally when you pause to notice joy. First, you’ll recognize the slowing down and relaxation in your body, that is followed by the gradual awakened change in perspective. There is a calm, peace to this that invariably brings you to a sense of gratitude and contentment. See if you can find this too and savor the awareness. It’s what grounds you and keeps you balanced, healthy and happy. Since you are your only true custodian, give into these sacred moments, they are precious gifts of self-care
Does this speak to you? Reach out if you’d like help to find your joy.
