Searching for new year’s inspiration amidst the chaos? My attention has been drawn to the quiet calm surrounding the Buddhist Monks’ Walk For Peace*. I’m not alone, they and their peace dog Aloka have been warming everyone’s heart with their simple message of love and peace as they walk from Texas to DC.
Mia Jones said it best in her fb post I reposted on my page, “When the monks leave their monasteries to walk for peace, it’s not symbolic, it’s a warning. … They walk only when the world is out of balance. … The fact that the Buddhist monks are walking for peace in America should make us all pause. …”*

There is a deeply moving purpose. a clear and urgent call to their actions. See if these points resonate with you.
LEAD WITH LOVE
We desperately need the monk’s simple message – Lead with Love. I’ve had the honor of hosting Buddhist monks in my home, and they especially loved my dog, Bodhi, who like them can communicate love and peace without words. Love one another, choose radical acceptance over divisiveness. Choose to lead with love in all your decisions and actions. It’s not a competition, it’s not about winners and losers or money, as we’re led to believe. Our purpose is to live with peace and harmony with one another.
NOTICE, APPRECIATE YOUR ABUNDANCE
As the monks walk with what is on their back, forsaking possessions, eating simple clean food, the contrast to our modern lifestyle is stark. It’s time to look around, notice and develop a deep appreciation for your abundance. It’s all there by your choice – and it is enough. It’s a matter of perspective – appreciate what you have.
USE YOUR POWER FOR GOOD
The monks are using their power for good. They are modeling their truth – love leads the way and peace is the answer to our problems. How can you take what you know and use your power for the greater good? How you show up and what you do can tell a similar story. Step up, speak up, take action, talk to your representatives, be an example of the good you know is in your heart to make our country whole.
I’d love to hear the impact this is having on you. And if you’d like to explore it, reach out.
