Trust and stability feel fragile now. Many of us are exhausted, overwhelmed, and increasingly distrustful — of the media, political chaos, and eroding rights. It’s shaping how we feel and operate. While loud dysfunction dominates attention, something quieter is happening beneath the surface. In small, meaningful ways, people are acting on deeply held values and slowly regaining trust and stability.

Look around. Notice. Every day, the people I know, and love are doing what they’ve always done to keep the best of our community strong — with clear, positive intention.
Here are a few things to focus on to help rebuild collective trust and stability.
BE CONSISTENT – SHOW UP
I love all the positive things happening in spite of the shit show dominating the news. Lee is playing music at the coffee shop. We’re dining with friends, meeting with school personnel, courts, and professionals in the arts — all with the intention of making progressive things happen. My colleagues are positive, helpful, creative, and predictable. Outrage may be briefly acknowledged, then set aside so we can focus on what matters. This is stability. It’s calming.
INVEST LOCALLY, NOT ABSTRACTLY
I’m inundated with pleas for donations to political campaigns. I support many of them, but my focus is decisively on what I can do locally. I want to help our diversion court, expand funding for the arts, create more meaningful educational experiences, and support our friends and neighbors. Trust and stability start where you are and move outward.
PROTECT YOUR ATTENTION AND ENERGY
I do it too — scrolling, scrolling — and then I stop. I tune into the Monks Walk for Peace*, and it snaps me back to what matters: mindfulness, presence, and what truly feeds me. I exercise, walk, read. Today, my walk through fields of icy snow bathed in sunlight looked like a wonderland of glistening diamonds. I stood in awe, grateful for how nature offers an antidote to chaos. Where you place your attention becomes your reality. Protect it.
Notice all the ways you quietly increase trust and stability at home, at work, and with friends. Reach out if you’d like to explore it.
