Do you need some help to tap into your creativity? Yes, you do, if you’re feeling stuck, uninspired or at a loss for what to do next. Creative change makes life more interesting and meaningful.
The quote “A rising tide lifts all boats” is a great analogy to what happens when you’re around others with skills and talents you don’t have to inspire new creativity. We are currently celebrating the return of one of Lexington’s great musicians (Zach Brock, with Snarky Puppy). We are feeling the lift in opportunity that he brings with him. This has prompted some exciting new ideas.
Here are 4 ways to tap into your creativity.
A SOLUTION IS AT THE OTHER END OF A PROBLEM
What’s your motivation to be more creative – bored, stuck, unhappy – and what’s at the other end of that issue? Imagine it and let it inform you. The Law of Polarity tells us that a problem and its solution are at either end of a continuum. I was looking for something for our non-profit that has more energy, bringing in new people. That means doing something different, something creative.
LOOK FOR INSPIRATION
What’s inspiring in your field? Check out what’s new, creative and exciting. I have been totally impressed with the Lexington Theater Company’s array of performances, training and workshops. They are total pros, right here, generating so much uplifting energy for the arts. They got me thinking.
THINK OUTSIDE YOUR BOX
It’s just a matter of time before the “same old” really does get old. Pay attention to your own feelings and push yourself to think bigger, newer. Inspiration comes from your current struggle; it seeds your knowing that you must break out of a pattern to do something new. Go ahead, push the boundaries.
FOLLOW YOUR OWN LIFT IN ENERGY
Sit quietly with your situation and imagine what needs changing. Let ideas drift through your mind and wait. Something will float through that brings with it a rise in energy. The thing that gives you a jolt of joy, a smile or goosebumps is it. When you have excitement and energy for something, you are on the right track. Stay tuned for more on my idea! Good luck!
