You’re supposed to blow out all the birthday candles – right? But what if you don’t? This superstition has been around forever, and I have always made my wishes and carefully blown out all the candles. But for the first time, there were still a few left burning and now I have to think about how to proceed. Are the birthday fairies still going to make the wishes come true?
Of course, we like to believe the fairies will be there for us no matter what, and maybe they are. But the truth is, it’s ultimately our responsibility to make what we want to have happen occur. Sorry to be a spoiler.

Here’s a quick review on how to make those birthday wishes actually come true.
CLARIFY WHAT’S IMPORTANT
Clarifying your priorities and determining what’s important is the first step. I conclude its personal growth – classes in my clinical field, more time meditating, being bolder in speaking up and deeper in connecting, experiences with travel and maybe even putting together a new workshop. It means I need to create more space for these things and find time to take care of myself – it means more balance. And that means finding help for our non-profit, which takes a lot of my time.
CREATE A VISION
Creating a vision isn’t just a visualization of what you want, it’s as much about creating an interior template of the change. That includes considering how you feel throughout the process and imaging actually stepping into the change. I see myself doing these things, and I imagine the lift in energy as I learn and experience them. The feeling of exhilaration is the rocket fuel that propels you forward and is my reward for taking these steps.
MAKE A PLAN
The rise in energy prompts taking action toward making it happen. Picking out the classes, scheduling time to meditate, determining when and where to take a stand, considering and then making travel plans. Every bit of it takes time and consideration. A good idea is only as good as the follow-through. Will my birthday wishes ride on the wings of fairies, my own determination or both? Let’s see!
