Here’s a message about the importance of staying centered and in your power. Why?
Because you know what happens if you constantly focus on the chaos, worry about what’s next, and focus on your lack of control. You know you lose your power, feel victimized and the negativity of fear and helplessness takes over. Depression and anxiety come next. It’s a downward spiral. So, what do you need to do now to stay centered and powerful?
Remind yourself of these few stabilizing activities that help you realize that your life and your ability to navigate it are not going anywhere.
BE PRESENT
Remember to bring your focus to the present moment. Do what is helpful – meditate, practice deep breathing exercises, or yoga. The more you are aware of your thoughts and feelings without judgment, the more thoughtfully you can react without impulsively. The more you create a space for inner peace and clarity, the more you have created your own powerful antidote to the chaos and stress around you. Incorporating mindfulness into your routine cultivates a stronger connection to your inner self, giving you resilience and a sense of control over your emotions and actions.
CONNECT WITH NATURE and POSITVE RELATIONSHIPS
Nothing provides a greater sense of balance and peace than being in nature. Even with the cold and nasty weather right now, a quick walk will bring you back to present and realign your senses to what is important. Staying connected with supportive friends helps you reground too, to remember you have a place in your world. You are ok even while things in the political realm are getting turned upside down.
SET BOUNDARIES
Don’t feed your negativity, get off your devices, and keep your distance from negative news and people. Know your limits and enforce your boundaries to maintain control over your time and energy, saying no to tasks that overwhelm you. By creating a protective space around yourself, you can focus on those things that keep you nourished and productive.
