Success without self-awareness is often hollow, focused on material gain, not always bringing you the pleasure you thought it would provide. That’s my perspective on the importance of enhancing self-awareness to gain appreciation and perspective on what your success really means.
This came to me while feeling humbled by the glory of this beautiful spring, recognizing the fullness of joy in my life. I see my own success, rather than being defined by chasing monetary reward, as a product of creating exactly what I had hoped to bring into it.
Here are the elements of self-awareness that can help you define your success.
KNOW WHAT REALLY MATTERS
You come into life with unique gifts and attributes, what you do with them is the challenge that defines your priorities and focus. Determining what is worth giving your best effort to is the key. Determining how you achieve work life balance is another. Know what makes you happy, define what really matters and you’ll be on the right track.
LIBERATE YOURSELF FROM OPPRESSION
Are you your worst enemy, full of self-judgment that limits your growth and your joy? Putting yourself in situations that create more oppression is a byproduct of this negative self-worth. Wake up and use self-awareness to liberate yourself. The time spent working on yourself always pays off.
BE DISCIPLINED AND SELF RELIANT
The more you take yourself seriously, the more you recognize you are the only one responsible for your life and your own sense of success. It’s not without sacrifice, because it requires discipline to obtain whatever you seek. This is what makes you self-reliant and that is your ticket to personal freedom and success.
RECOGNIZE WHAT YOU HAVE CREATED
No matter where you are in the process of creating your personal success, step back and honor what you have produced to date. Appreciation and gratitude helps you recognize what you have brought into your life, helps you recognize your success and gives you satisfaction for even the simplest of joys.
