The national drama around the Supreme Court nomination has ended, but we’re still left with the turmoil it’s stirred up. Maybe it’s time to “Reboot”- create a fresh start and consider what wants to happen next.
The divisiveness around the SCOTUS investigation and the #Metoo movement highlights the importance of putting the focus on yourself and centering in your own wisdom. For weeks, I’ve had heart wrenching conversations with both women and men who’ve shared experiences of being hurt personally or professionally by power inequities. The scars of these experiences can create damage to one’s sense of self, disconnecting you from the truth of who you are.
What can you do about this? On October 20 and 21st I’m conducting a two-part workshop entitled “Clear and Reboot” that provides a structure for examining this issue. It will help you identify patterns that no longer serve you, clear them out and reboot on a platform that reflects your best interests.
Last week I reviewed the process of how to clear yourself of the beliefs and experiences that hold you back. This week I’ll focus on how to reboot on a platform that’s based on your strengths and values.
Here are some of the steps involved in a reboot that will ensure your life is congruent with who you are.
REBOOT ON A STRENGTH-BASED PLATFORM
Negative experiences can create a tunnel view of yourself when you’re looking through a lens of shame or judgment. It’s easy to lose sight of your gifts from this warped view point.
If you look at yourself from your soul’s perspective, which only sees your strengths and assets, what do you notice? What qualities would you like to bring to the forefront? What values are important to you? These are the foundational bedrock for rebooting your life.
Let your strengths be the foundation for your new experiences.
CREATE YOUR SATISFYING VISION
What’s your dream – what would you love to see happen in your life? Everything starts with an idea and vision before it comes into creation.
Go ahead and dream a little. Imagine yourself doing exactly what you’d like, being exactly who you want to be, using your strengths and gifts to their fullest. Allow yourself to fully enjoy the feeling of satisfaction that comes with it.
You have to envision it before it can happen – go ahead and dream.
IDENTIFY AND ATTRACT SUPPORTIVE CO-CREATORS
In this vision you conjure up of your rebooted life, who do you have in it with you? You want to include people who reflect, encourage and support your strengths. They are your co-creators. Even if you don’t know them yet, imagine their qualities and your interactions.
When you are on a path that honors who you are, you will naturally attract people who are congruent to what you are seeking. Go ahead and be selective, your gifts shine when you are in environments where they are supported and nurtured.
The right people will show up to help when you seek a path that highlights your strengths.
LAUNCH ACTION STEPS
Once the vision is in place, once you get excited and start feeling the renewed energy that comes from aligning yourself to who you really are, then you are your ready to get to work. The foundation has been laid.
If you start with the end in sight, it’s much easier to decide on your action steps. Some people even work backwards from imagining they are already there to determine how long it will take and all the steps involved in getting there. It’s energizing and exhilarating when you make these decisions as if it’s already happening.
The steps to launch your “Reboot” evolve easily when you start with the vision of its completion.
Are your ready to be proactive and reboot your life so that it builds on your gifts and reflects your potential? Start by identifying your strengths and natural assets. Imagine yourself in a new situation that uses them, feeling satisfied and productive. Notice the people you have around you– they’re your co-creators, who support and appreciate who you are. When you have all those ideas in place and are feeling excited by its prospects, then you can start planning the steps you will take. You are on the road to making this change real in your life!
