You can’t overestimate the impact of your positive thoughts and actions. You have tremendous power and influence on everything and everyone around you; it creates a ripple outward that impacts thousands. Remember this when you’re inundated with negative news about the impact of people’s greed and hatred. What you do makes a difference and can counterbalance the negativity.
It reminds me of the “butterfly effect”. When meteorologist, Edward Lorenz made the comment in 1963 that one small butterfly scale change was capable of causing a hurricane size change on the other side of the planet, it was ridiculed. Thirty years later, science has substantiated this concept. For what he was saying, small changes in one place can create huge change elsewhere, also pertains to the difference you make with what you think and do.
Here are some things to pay attention to:
NOTICE HOW YOUR THOUGHTS AFFECT YOUR BEHAVIOR
Start noticing how your own thoughts, especially the secret ones, influence your behavior. For example, If you think your pet is bad, you‘ll likely raise your voice and be harsh, whether it’s warranted or not. When you extend this judgment to people the impact is profound, especially on children. Be vigilant with your thoughts and maintain a positive mindset, assuming the best, unless shown otherwise. Behavior starts with a thought – stay positive.
NOTICE THE POSITIVE REACTION TO POSITIVE ACTIONS
What’s your reaction to a compliment or kindness? Isn’t it something you hold dear, savoring the feeling? The impact of others’ kindness often prompts you to give back in some way. Hence the kindness spreads out, just like the butterfly effect. When you strive to do and be the best, you are influencing everyone around you to do the same. Keep it up.
BE AN ADVOCATE FOR MAKING A POSITIVE DIFFERENCE
Try making a pact with yourself to think and act positively in every way. Notice the difference it makes in how you feel and how others react to you. Remember that your positive impact is an important and necessary counterbalance to the negativity in the world. You really do make a difference.
