BEFORE MAKING A CHANGE – TRY THIS FIRST

Change is all around us with the beginning of fall. Even before the leaves change here in Kentucky, we are being reminded of pumpkins, ripe apples in the orchard, and the ramping up of seasonal events way before their time. It has traditionally been a time of big change for me too, from starting new projects, traveling, moving, and conducting workshops. This year I’m doing something different.

I am taking time out to more deeply consider what wants to happen in my life. By not pushing so hard for the next new thing, I am waiting for it to reveal itself. This slow unveiling feels a little awkward, but I am trusting this process to take me to something more meaningful. I want to ripen more, learn more and be more contemplative before I launch something new.

Here’s what I’m doing:

Meditation – Self Reflection

The call to reflect first is what got my attention. Meditation has been my go-to process for digging a little deeper to see what wants to be considered. When I asked the question in meditation, I was shown a cave and then one with me in it. I got the message. Instead of launching my usual fall workshop, do this first.

Try giving yourself time and space to reflect on what wants to happen in your life. Instead of jumping at the first thing that comes to mind or shows itself, let it percolate. This is different for me, and I look forward to seeing what will be revealed.

Clarify What’s Important

Clarification is also a process of self-reflection. What is important at this stage of your life? Before looking around to see what others are doing, look inside and determine what is important to you.

Learning more and developing my skills around healing is what is important for me. I’m not exactly sure what that will mean, but I am eager to see what is shown to me. I trust I will know, as already I’ve discovered unread books calling to me. It is exciting to be on a path of discovery.

Develop Clear Intention

Once you have some clarity, it will prompt you to develop more specific intentions. This is a reminder from the first Law Of Mentalism – all creation starts as a thought. Your thoughtful intention lays the groundwork for everything that happens next. Take your time. There is no reason to rush the development of something important.

Developing clear intention around my unfinished book will likely figure into the other things I am exploring and learning. I hear it calling from the sidelines. Like everything in life, it will all work together, one feeding the other. Part of bringing a new intention into being is looking forward to the process.

Before you launch a change, or something new this fall, consider these steps. Give yourself time to meditate and self-reflect. Clarify what is important and what wants to happen in your life.

Then you can develop a clear intention for what you want to bring into being. Most of all, enjoy the journey.
